Hotel on Lake Starnberg

As part of an invited competition, we developed a concept for the redesign of a traditional hotel from the turn of the century. A new building should add more rooms and a spa area to the hotel. The existing buildings, especially the large loggia and the bar, were to be modernized.

Inspired by the boats on the lake, the spa area plays with the security in the bathrooms, which are reminiscent of cabins, and the openness in the relaxation room, like on a ship's deck. The new rooms are oriented towards the view of the 19th century park and appear very spacious due to the merging of the bathroom and room. Material and  Furniture is modern and yet makes reference to the historical, structural context.
